home / products / fish and seafood
Fish is one of the most traded food commodities in the world. Global consumption has increased at an average annual rate of 3.1 percent from 1961 to the present. A rate almost twice the annual growth of the world population in the same period and higher than all other animal protein foods (meat, dairy products, milk, etc.), which increased 2.1% per year.
Global fish production reached about 179 million tons in 2018. Of the total, 156 million tons were used for human consumption, equivalent to an estimated annual supply of 20.5 kg per capita. Ayamo Global Foods has strategic partnerships with key suppliers in Latin America and the world, with the objective of ensuring the quality and sustainability of such a healthy and important resource for human nutrition. We only sell goods from companies and fishing vessels that meet the strictest quality and hygiene standards in the world.
Brazilian Fish
It is estimated that around 3.5 million people are directly or indirectly involved in fishing and aquaculture in Brazil. Small scale fishing dominates the northern regions, while industrial fishing is more important in the southern region. Brazilian fish is recognized for its enormous diversity. Along its 8,500 km of coast, several species stand out, from Yellow Croaker in the cold waters of Rio Grande do Sul to the Pargo in the warmer waters of Pará. In 2020, 46 thousand tons of fresh and frozen fish were exported to over 110 countries, totaling 260 million dollars in revenue for the country. Ayamo has the knowledge to provide you with strategic management of your needs, ensuring security in delivery and total control over product quality.

Every year, the Mullet roe season in Brazil is between May and July. Mullet Fishing is a centuries-old tradition and is considered a Cultural Heritage in Santa Catarina, the main region for catching this species. Mainly influenced by the southern winds, the Mullets migrate from the estuaries in Argentina, Uruguay and Rio Grande do Sul in large shoals to spawn on our coast.
To ensure the sustainability of the species, since 2018 Brazil has adopted a quota system, in which NGOs and the Federal Government, together with small scale fishermen and fishing industries, establish a maximum amount to be caught. This practice has already been adopted in several countries and Mullet was the pioneer species in receiving this mechanism in Brazil.
